To acknowledge the dedication, enthusiasm and passion of muscle car clubs, the AMCMasters has each year showcased particular makes and models of road-registered muscle cars celebrating special anniversaries.

These cars have also taken part in the exclusive speed-controlled road car parade during Sunday’s packed program. However, as part of our ‘50 Years of Touring Cars’ theme, the AMCMasters is doing things differently in 2010. Instead of highlighting the usual two or three marques, this year we’re inviting a wide variety of different makes and models of Aussie muscle cars (and some European and Japanese brands, too) that have helped weave together the rich fabric of Australian touring car racing over the past five decades.

Mirroring the 50th Anniversary Handicap Race format, the Featured Muscle Marques display and track parade this year will be divided into four groups of road cars that represent a broad overview of four decades of touring car evolution:

1960s Display
Jaguar Mark II, Holden 48-215/FJ ‘Humpy’ & EH, Mustang 1964-1969

1970s Display
Falcon XA/XB GT & XC Hardtop, Torana XU-1/L34/A9X, Charger R/T E38-E49

1980s Display
Commodore VC-VL (HDT and ‘Walkinshaw’ Group A only), *Falcon XD-XE (ESP only), Mazda RX7 (Series 1 only), •BMW 635CSi & E30 M3

1990s Display
Nissan GT-R, *Falcon EB-AU (Tickford only), *VN-VT Commodores (HSV and ‘Walkinshaw’ Group A only)

All Featured Muscle Marque cars will be displayed exclusively on the bitumensealed car park and adjacent freshly mown lawn areas directly in front of the circuit’s main administration building.

These dedicated display areas, which were introduced last year and worked extremely well,
not only provide a superior all-weather display facility, but also allow easy access to/from the
racetrack via a new sealed access way for the speed-controlled parade lap session during
Sunday’s program.

Remember, display/track parade numbers are strictly limited. The maximum number of road
cars allowed to take part in the parade laps is 60, so ideally we’re looking for a total of 15 vehicles from each of the four decades to meet that maximum fi gure. We’ll try to ensure that any one model is not over-represented in each group. So, if you’re lucky enough to own one of
the rare Australian muscle cars or European/ Japanese thoroughbreds mentioned here
(must be in clean, presentable condition to be displayed) and you would like to join us for a
great day out, then make sure you get your entry in early.

There is nothing like being
"up the creek" on Dad’s day!
