Sporty spice: Le Mans-winning Porsches at AMCM

Two of the world’s most famous racecars will add spice to this year’s expanded Master Blasts sessions at the Muscle Car Masters on September 4, joining the touring cars on track. Porsche has confirmed the attendance of two Le Mans-winning chassis: the 962 which claimed the 1987 24-Hour classic and ‘Moby Dick’, the victorious ‘whale tail’ 935 model of 1979. It will be the Porsche Museum cars only Sydney appearances. The best of the best sessions will also include a tribute to Frank Matich via a Matich A50 Formula 5000. The great man, the subject of this edition’s Memorable Muscle Racer profile, will be on hand to see car owner and story author Aaron Lewis turn laps, 40 years after Matich won the 1971 Australian Grand Prix, ‘down the road’ at Warwick Farm. More Master Blasts cars will be confirmed in the lead up to the Father’s Day event.
